Ever wondered about the foundational statement of the Uniting church? Or have you been told that the Uniting church “doesn’t stand for anything”? Then this new study is for you!
The Uniting Church defines itself as a pilgrim people on the way, with a desire to enter more deeply into the faith and mission of the Church in Australia.
The Basis of Union also states that we look for a continuing renewal, we bear witness to a unity of faith and life in Christ which transcends cultural and economic, national and racial boundaries, and we look to discern ways by which we might confess the Lord in fresh words and deeds.
These words are part of the amazing vision which forms the Basis of Union, a document written in the 1960s which still stands as a clear commitment to who we are as the Uniting Church in Australia.
Rev. Dr John Squires is leading a four part study series on the Basis of Union on Thursday mornings in February, 10:00am to 11:30am at TUC.
