Advent has always been a season of getting ready—getting the Christmas presents bought, getting the Christmas cake and pudding made, getting the Christmas holiday itinerary ready, getting the Christmas cards sent (does anyone still do that now??). Advent can easily get swallowed up in getting ready for Christmas.
We know that Christmas celebrates the coming of Jesus. We know there’s lots to do, to get ready. This year, why not make some time, once every week, to join with others, and consider: How can Advent best serve me, in my life of faith, in 2020?
So it’s time to Reimagine Advent. What is this season for? How can we make the best use of these four weeks? Why does the calendar of the Church’s year offer us these four weeks, every year?
You are welcome to join a four-week online study, Reimagining Advent: towards the coming. John Squires will be leading four 80-minute sessions each week. There will be prayers, music, poetry, and scripture. We will listen, discuss, explore, and reflect. The readings for our lectionary will provide the framework. John will be your guide.
As you meet with others in these sessions, together we will experience the joy of discovery, the delight of understanding, and the deepening of our walk of faith. So please join in!!
We will meet from 7pm each Wednesday evening in Advent (2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd December). Join by clicking on the 9.30am Sunday Online Worship link on the TUC webpage or click on https://uca-nswact.zoom.us/j/825817560
